Analysis of the reform options

Despite the breakdown of inter-party talks in 2007, there was clear evidence of agreement between the parties on a number of reform options, as well as clear disagreement on others. The positions taken by party representatives at the one-day hearing convened by the Committee on Standards in Public Life in July 2010 offer further pointers as to where the parties agree and disagree.

Please see our Reform options overview for a detailed analysis of the reform options and our assessment of the scope for cross-party agreement.

A summary table based on this analysis is presented on page 19 of the report (Box 5).
